Fiston Lusambo
With longtime friend and activist Tabu Osusa, Fiston went to record music deep in Northern Kenya’s marginalised communities, capturing sounds from traditional instruments, birds, and even a goat. Back in the studio, he replaced Western electronic elements with these organic recordings, blending his digital production expertise with raw traditional sounds.
The result is a fresh, unique album—combining the warmth of Tabu Ley and William Onyeabor with contemporary danceability. Beyond music, it fosters collaboration between tribes long divided by conflict, living up to its name: kabila moja—“one tribe” in Swahili.
