The project was also recognized as one of Abbey Road Studios "One to Watch" and Reece was invited to Spotify's Secret Genius Studio to write and record at Metropolis Studios. Following this impressive success, Reece expanded Rayowa from a studio project to a live 9-piece band, featuring his two brothers and friends. Going on to sell out venues like Colours Hoxton, The Moth Club, Hootananny, and Brixton Jamm, Rayowa have supported legendary acts such as Nile Rodgers, Chic and Diana Ross. Listening to Rayowa not only offers a vibrant and nostalgic musical experience but also showcases the journey of a dedicated artist bringing classic influences into the modern age. _ Story behind "In The Sunshine" by Rayowa - "In the Sunshine" was written and engineered in my studio during a time when the weather was grey and miserable. I wanted to create something that captured the essence of summer, a song that could transport me to the sun-drenched coasts of LA or Miami—places I dream of visiting. I'm heavily influenced by 70s and 80s American music, and imagining the aesthetic of that era really helped shape the soundscape I was aiming for. My goal was to capture the warmth and smooth, rich soulfulness of 70s records like Kool & the Gang's "Summer Madness" or Quincy Jones’ take on "Summer in the City," which I actually referenced while writing the lyrics. All of the Rayowa records feature a lot of live instrumentation—live drums, percussion, fender rhodes, guitar, bass, brass, and strings. However, this is the first time I've experimented with Minimoog bass, and I feel it really helps to cement that classic funk sound and it’s definitely something I'll be exploring more in the future. I’m buzzing to be joining the Disco Express family. They’re at the forefront of the modern disco, funk and soul scene as a label and their impact on it so far has been really impressive. I’d like to thank everybody who has contributed to making this record happen and I’d like to to give a very special thank you to my brother Dan Baker for all of his tireless hard work, creative input, artistic genius, encouragement, support, passion, friendship and love. Without him by my side none of this would have ever been possible.
